What this is
Every Monday we ask a set of building material vendors in Enugu what they are charging. Some we visit, some we call. This page shows the best price we were quoted for each material that week.
It is a record of what we were told on the day. It is not a catalogue, and nothing here is an offer — prices move, and a vendor who quoted on Monday may quote differently on Thursday.
How to read it
- Best price
- The best quote we received that week, per unit. Not an average.
- Change
- Against the same material last week. A rise is shown in red because it costs you more; a fall in green. A material we priced for the first time says so rather than showing a change of zero.
- Awaiting collection
- A material we follow, that we did not manage to get a price for that week. We would rather say so than leave it off the page and let the list look complete.
What to do next
If you are buying, use these figures to sanity-check a quote you have been given. If the number you were quoted is well above the price here, ask why.
If you want us to do the buying, we act as your buying agent: we source from vendors we have priced and visited in person, you approve every purchase before we buy, and we document the delivery with photos. Our fee is 5% of the materials cost, or ₦10,000, whichever is greater. The ₦10,000 is a floor, not an addition — on an order below ₦200,000 it replaces the 5% rather than being added to it. It is always a separate line item, and nothing is added to the vendor’s price.
