1. Who we are
BuildEasy Construction Company Ltd (“BuildEasy”, “we”, “us”) is a company registered in Nigeria (RC 8981547) with its registered office at 16 Nibo Street, Thinkers Corner, Enugu, Enugu State.
We operate buildeasy.ng, a platform that helps people buy building materials and hire skilled artisans in Enugu — including people who are building from outside Nigeria and cannot be on site.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. This notice explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
2. What we collect
If you join the waitlist
Your name and phone number, and your email address if you provide one.
If you submit a request (through “Tell us what you need”, or from a vendor or artisan profile)
Your name, your phone number, the type of request (materials, artisan, or whole project), and the description of what you need. We also record which page you submitted from.
If you apply to join as a vendor, artisan, or driver
Your name and phone number, your business or trade details, the area of Enugu you work in, and any photographs you upload of your shop, your work, or yourself.
If you become a listed vendor or artisan
Your business or working name, contact phone number, business address, a short description, photographs of your work or products, and the prices you set.
Records created as you use the platform
Your order history and the status changes on each order, any bids and messages exchanged with artisans, and the information attached to photographs you upload — such as when the photograph was taken and the settings of the device that took it.
Automatically, when you use the site
Basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is generated by our hosting and infrastructure providers as part of delivering and securing the site.
When we speak to you
Records of calls, WhatsApp messages, and emails relating to your enquiry or order, including photographs we send you as documentation of purchases and deliveries.
We do not collect payment card details on our website. Where card payment is offered in future, it will be handled by a licensed payment provider and card details will not reach our systems.
3. Why we collect it, and our lawful basis

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. Who we share it with
Vendors and artisans. When you ask us to buy materials or arrange work, we share what is necessary to fulfil it — typically your first name, the delivery area, and what is needed. We do not share your full contact details with a vendor or artisan without telling you.
Service providers who help us run the platform. These process data on our instructions only:
- Database and file storage
- Website hosting and content delivery
- Image and media hosting
- Email delivery
- SMS delivery
- Mapping and address lookup
- Payment processing, where applicable
Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it. For example, if we are required to disclose information by a court or regulator.
5. Data leaving Nigeria
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Nigeria, including in the European Union and the United States. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the transfer is permitted under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and that the provider is subject to appropriate contractual protections.
6. How long we keep it

Where we no longer need data, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.
7. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:
- Be told what personal data we hold about you and how we use it
- Access a copy of your personal data
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your data, where we have no continuing reason to keep it
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your data
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent — for example, to withdraw a public vendor or artisan listing
- Receive your data in a portable format, where that applies
- Not be subject to a decision made solely by automated means that significantly affects you
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 10. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not disclose your data to someone else.
Withdrawing consent or asking us to delete your data may mean we can no longer provide the service — for example, we cannot arrange a purchase for you without a phone number.
8. Security
We protect your data with access controls on our systems, encrypted connections to our website, and restricted administrative access. Only people who need it in order to do their work can see your personal data.
No system is completely secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
9. Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
11. Changes to this notice
If we change how we use personal data, we will update this notice and change the date at the top. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you directly.
