How BuildEasy works, and why that shapes this policy

BuildEasy acts as your buying agent. You tell us what you need, we source it from vendors and send you a quote showing the vendor’s actual price and our service fee as a separate line. Nothing is bought until you approve that quote.

Because we buy on your instruction rather than selling you stock we own, what can be refunded depends on how far along the purchase is when you tell us.

Before we buy — full refund

If you cancel after paying but before we have bought anything, you get everything back: the materials amount and the service fee, in full.

Our service fee is 5% of the materials cost, or ₦10,000, whichever is greater. On an order small enough that the minimum applies, ₦10,000 is what you paid and ₦10,000 is what comes back.

We will tell you before we place the order with the vendor. Up to that point the service fee is fully refundable. Once we place it, the sourcing work is done and the fee is not.

After we buy, before delivery

Once materials are purchased, the goods have been bought on your instruction. We will approach the vendor to return them, but building material vendors are not obliged to accept returns and many do not.

• If the vendor accepts the return, we refund what they refund us, less any restocking charge they apply. We will show you what they charged.
• If the vendor will not accept the return, the materials are yours and we will deliver them.
• The service fee is not refundable at this stage, because the sourcing and purchasing work has been done.

On delivery — our responsibility

If what arrives is wrong, short, damaged, or does not match the specification you approved, that is ours to fix. We will replace the items or refund them, at your choice.

Tell us within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs. After 48 hours we cannot reliably tell delivery damage from site damage or loss, and claims become much harder to settle.

What cannot be refunded

• cement and other moisture-sensitive materials, once delivered and stored on site
• cut-to-size, mixed, blended or made-to-order items
• any materials you have started using
• correctly delivered materials you have simply changed your mind about, unless the vendor agrees to take them back — in which case their restocking charge applies

Artisan work

Payment stages for artisan work are agreed between you and the artisan, and you pay each stage directly as the work is done. BuildEasy does not currently take, hold or pass on artisan payments. If work is not carried out as agreed, tell us before you pay the next stage and we will take it up with the artisan on your behalf. Money you have already paid an artisan for work they have done is between you and them, though we will help where we can.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back the way the money came, to the account it was sent from. We aim to send refunds within 5 working days of agreeing them. Bank processing times are outside our control.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy removes or limits any right you have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 or any other Nigerian law.
